+12

A soldier doesn’t fight because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.

From the icy terrain of Himalaya to the scorching heat of the desert, they guard us as their family all day and night without complaining. It will be fair to say, while these soldiers are making sure of the peace and safety of every citizen, we should respect every soldier, who has and is serving our country.

From the dawn of our independence, they have been guarding us against the intruders, terrorists, and other external attacks. Since 1947, we have faced several major wars and in each case, even in the worst condition, we have snatched victory from enemies with the help of our powerful, devotional, and extremely talented Indian Army.

This poem was written for the Pulwama attack which was one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir on 14th February 2019. The attack resulted in the deaths of our 40 CRPF soldiers. Nevertheless, I believe no day should go by when we should not remind ourselves of the soldiers who suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war. For, the nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.
